Fisher-Price and Baby Einstein comparison : Fisher-Price Rainforest Jumperoo

Fisher-Price Rainforest Jumperoo
Fisher-Price and Baby Einstein comparison
 I bought a Fisher Price jumperoo based on the wonderful reviews and was not disappointed. Because my 4-month old baby loved it so much, I decided to purchase another jumperoo for the g-parents' house. My husband convinced me to buy the Baby Einstein jumper so that our baby would have something different to play with. So far, our baby seems to enjoy jumping in the F-P jumperoo much more than in the B-E jumper.

Below is a list of differences I noticed between the two:

1. The B-E seat is wider than the F-P seat. My baby's body wobbles around a lot in the B-E seat. The F-P seat provides more support and has a extra cushioning behind the head so her head does not wobble when she moves back and forth in the seat.

2. The B-E seat's fabric is cut so that my baby sits on her rear more than in the F-P seat. Because of this, my baby jumps around a lot more in the F-P seat than in the B-E seat.

3. The B-E jumper has more height settings. My baby is able to touch the floor without a cushion or phone book underneath her. She still needs a firm pillow under the F-P jumperoo.

4. The B-E jumper toys seem to be for older babies, who have developed stronger fingers. Some of the toys require quite a bit of coordination to use. The B-E toys that hang above the jumper are actually just plastic rings, which are not very interesting. The F-P toys that hang above the jumper are more colorful and much better quality. My baby studies the F-P toys for long periods of time, but is not interested in the B-E plastic rings.

5. The B-E jumper music toy plays 5 classical music songs, but they are short. The F-P jumperoo's music lasts much longer, even though there are only two different music selections.

Also, the B-E jumper music toy is activated by touching one of the piano keys. The F-P jumperoo music is activated by the baby's jumping. Again, it seems the B-E jumper is for older babies who have better eye-hand coordination. The F-P jumperoo seems to encourage babies to jump more than the B-E jumper.Baby Einstein Musical Motion Activity Center

EXCELLENT BOUNCER/EXERSAUCER
Our then 3 month old son was very active and would stand in our arms and JUMP for as long as we'd let him. I started researching the bouncers ~ we needed something to help us out with this active child. I saw the Rainforest Jumperoo online, but I didn't see any reviews and was hesitant to buy it. It's a little more expensive than the other options. I went to BabiesRUS and looked at all the options including the exersaucers and this seemed like the best option - it's a perfect combination of both. It has fun and colorful toys that he loves plus a small space that's designated as a snack tray. Now that we have it home - I can honestly tell you that this is the BEST toy that we have found for him. He will sit in his jumper for quite a while. I often ask him if he wants out, but he just laughs and keeps jumping. I love that he can turn his seat 360 degrees - he can turn towards me wherever in the room that I am. Also, he's a little short for this - his feet just reach the floor, but we put a short stool under him and he now has enough room to push up and bounce. He should be able to use this for several months to come. This was a GREAT investment - the best baby gadget yet and we have them ALL!!

Great product- don't wait to buy it!
I bought this for my not-yet-4-month-old daughter and it arrived yesterday. I put it together with ease (except being short one battery that I stole from a clock in the house).

She has been holding her head up since birth and doesn't like laying down anymore. She loved sitting in this and looking at the toys. She's just now realizing her hands are hers to use so the toys on this are perfect.

Her toes barely touch the floor and so she can't quite jump in it. But at her rate of growth, she will be jumping in a few days! Another reviewer mentioned placing a pillow under the baby's feet and I think I'll try that tonight. With that said, I still wish I bought this sooner. If you are thinking about buying it, don't wait until your baby is older. Buy it sooner and get your monies worth. Even if the baby can't reach the floor, there is great value in the toys.

So far, so good. Although she is deeply interested in this new toy and trying to figure out what to do in it, I just LOVE it! I can see many hours of her enjoyment, mine watching her and valuable hands free time for me!

Baby and mom's favorite toy!
I really wasn't sure if my 4-month-old would like this; he seems to hate everything. He's a VERY cranky baby unless entertained by mommy or daddy. I can't get anything done with him! But this turned out to be one of the best toy purchases I've ever made for him.

Set-up was very easy and the directions were very straight-forward, though I pretty much only used them for quick reference. I love that assembly is snap-together. You only need a screwdriver to put the batteries (3 AA) in. Once it's assembled, it's big and a little bit of a pain to move but our apartment is really tiny so there's really no need to move it from it's spot in the living room. This may be an issue for others, though. Getting the baby in can be an event but I personally find it much easier to have the seat pad sticking straight up and it does that for you by itself when you pull your little one out.

At first, he wasn't sure what to make of all of it and just kind of stared at the lights on the musical toy, which plays very cute music and animal souds in two volumes and two different settings. Pretty soon, he figured out how to spin the little doo-dad on it and was so excited that he could make it turn on. And of course, when little ones get excited, those little legs get a-goin' and he soon discovered the joy of bouncing. I don't think I've ever seen him laugh harder. The racket it makes when it bounces is a little annoying but as long as it makes my baby happy, I don't mind. Right now, he's not much for spinning in the seat so the lizzard and tiger toys have gone ignored for the most part but what he can get his hands on, he loves. He also likes to look up at the stuffed leaf toys.

There is one toy that may be a real dud for some kids. There's a little bug on a stem that I'm guessing is supposed to stand up, but it just hangs limp. This was quickly turned into something fun, however, by taking it out of it's slot (this can be done by simply pinching the two plastic tabs on the yellow base) and just handing it to him to play with. It must feel really good on his gums because he just loves to gnaw away on it and look at the high-contrasting black polka-dots on the white wings. It's too bad they didn't stuff cellophane in the wings. He loves crinkly stuff.

Not all kids will end up loving this little gem but mine sure does! I can put him down and FINALLY begin the horrid process of cleaning my house which has been neglected for 4 months. That I don't have an excuse anymore is pretty much my only complaint.

Sale Fisher-Price Rainforest Melodies and Lights Deluxe Gym
Definitely worth the money
I bought this while I was pregnant and started using it for my daughter very early on; I think she might've been only 2 weeks old. I read some of the other reviews and I think those kids might've been too old for this toy, when they are 3+ months old they are much more aware and more active and would want to do more than laying flat on their stomach or back for any extended period of time. This was my daughter's very first toy and she absolutely loved it from the very beginning up `til she was 3.5 month old! She would lay on it entertained for 20-30mins at a time which was enough time for me to heat up some food for myself to eat. She loved the lights and would smile & kick excitedly non-stop the whole time she's lying on the mat. I am amazed at the strength of her stomach muscles. In the beginning she enjoyed the lights more (probably because her eye sight weren't that great yet) then gradually she began appreciating the toys and especially the plastic mirror. She loves looking at herself and her own facial expressions. What I like about this: The mat is removable and washable. I totally thought the butterfly would move like a mobile too but apparently they don't...I eventually just took them off cause when I laid down on the mat and looked up at the lights the butterflies actually obstructs the view of the lights. I like that the music stops and then starts again when the baby kicks or make slight movement to the bars, based on the frequency of the music coming on I know that my baby is still active on the mat even when I'm not constantly looking at it. Oh, we also use it as a place for changing her diaper, the lights/toys keeps her entertained while we change her, and the mat serves as a good barrier between her bottom and our carpet (she's surprised us a couple of times and we've had to laundry the mat). Between her play time and diaper changing we definitely got our money's worth.

Great for hours of entertainment!
At first my baby wasn't crazy about this so I thought it was a huge waste of money, but my baby is now 3 months old and LOVES this! It's great to keep him entertained for an hour or more. He loves to look in the mirror at himself. I like that it's got extra places to hang your own toys from. I would highly recommend this product!

Educational Must for Parents & Grandparents
Fisher-Price has certainly won me over on this bright, colorful gym. I have purchased FP toys for 25 years. Now as a first time Mom-Mom, I still go with the brands that I am sure will be a winner. My grandson loves the sights and sounds of the jungle tunes, with colorful animals hanging on loops that are adjustable and moveable. The blinking colored lights catch his attention and motivate him as he laughs and tries to speak to the animals. He exercises his limbs and sharpens his senses with this wonderful. creative and easily transportable gym. We purchased this at birth, my grandson is now almost 5 months and I am sure will use this for months to come.
Great for home, not meant for travelling
This mat was a no brainer for me after getting the Fisher-Price Rainforest Open-Top Cradle Swing and seeing how wonderful the colors and brightness of the product are. No, it is not meant for travelling and the mat is perfectly thick enough, even on my hardwood floors.

The only issues I had with it was the amount of time spent trying to figure out how to get the butterflies to move (they don't) and that there are no extra rings to add length (a little short for a 3 month old to view AND grab at the same time) or to attach more of your own toys. But those are insignificant and not problems compared to how many hours she has played with it and believe it or not, her activity on the playmat has tired her out so that she finally slept through the night! That in it and of itself makes this worth so much more than I paid for it, as far as I am concerned.

No matter which one you end up choosing, be sure to get a playmat. It was incredible how quickly she has developed since we bought ours a week ago. She "talks" so much more now, coos, smiles, laughs and just makes crazy noises and loves kicking the elephant rattle and looking at herself in the mirror. Also, I posted some customer images for a better idea. Enjoy! :D

Graco Nautilus 3-in-1 Car Seat : You Save Free Super Saving Shipping

Graco Nautilus 3-in-1 Car Seat
better than radian or britax in my humble opinion
So I did a LOT of reseach before buying this, read multiple message boards, then to the store to look at them, etc. This replaced a britax that was passed down to DD #2 for my rather large 4 yo girl(40lbs, 40inches)I want to keep her harnessed for as long as I can. I finally decided to go for it b/c of
1)price (though it really wasn't an object) but I am a big fan of bang for your buck,
2)sturdiness, i was never a fan of graco until i bought this seat. It's got a nice weight, sturdy frame.
3)comfort, memory foam! DD loves it, she sleeps very comfortably in it without slumping over like she used to.
4)size, not gigantic like the regent but large it enough to have a big kid sit in it
I was concerned about its looks but it's much better looking in person.
Finally, who can beat amazon's price!
I highly recommend it, I think it will last my DD until she's prob 7-8 yo (My average sized 8yo nephew fits!)

Amazing Car Seat - Design and Value
My Wife, a Pediatrician, did a ton of research - with the first priority being safety, safety, and, I'll say it again, safety.

We were Britax users for our first car seats and found it a fine car seat, though pricey.

So, this time around, with our son growing too long for the Britax seats that we had, we decided to look at all the options.

Price was not part of the equation.

Design was not either.

Safety was it.

We highly recommend this Graco car seat (We have three now)

1) The price blows Britax away.

2) The design is very nice. Our son loves the drink holder as well as the toy "compartment" in the arm rests. He "hides" toys in the arm rests and has a lot of fun fooling us.

The installation was simple.

The headrest is extremely easy to use and to "fit".

The five point harness is critical to our son's safety and it is very easy to use. Though, it is slightly different than Britax, so there is a few days of getting used to a "new" system. After that, there is no problem.

Love this carseat!
I bought this seat two weeks ago for my six-year-old and we both love it. She's pretty close to 40 pounds and was about to outgrow her current seat. I'd like her harnessed a little longer in one of our vehicles that has "backseat issues". I was thrilled when this seat came out. I really like Graco products and since this was more of a want than a need, I couldn't justify $300 for some of the other higher-weight-harnessing seats.
Putting it together was a little weird. It was difficult to pop the arm rests in. It's supposed to make a click, but it was a very quiet sound. They must be in right, though, because she puts her weight on them getting in and out and they haven't wiggled.
The strap adjuster took some time to get used to. It has a shield over the release so a child can't loosen the straps. But this also means you can't see it, so you have to feel around for it.
The cupholder is great. It actually holds a real bottle of water rather than just a sippy cup. Big kids use water bottles!
I've installed it in my Camry with the lap/shoulder seatbelt and it went in like a dream. It will eventually be in the Jeep Cherokee. Although I haven't tried it in there, I don't anticipate any problems.
The headrest sticks when you raise and lower it, but it should loosen up and that won't need to be done all that often, anyway.
Be sure to pay attention to the specifics. Children must be one year old and weigh 20 pounds (both, not either/or) to use this seat and it's forward-facing only. Even though you can use it at 20 pounds, I'd recommend leaving your child rear-facing until 30-35 pounds (depending on the seat) in a convertible seat. Not only will your child be much safer, you'll get more use out of the Nautilus. Since the Nautilus expires after six years, if you get it for your one-year-old it'll expire when he's seven and you'll still need another booster. If you get it when he's two or three, it'll expire when he's eight or nine and can go straight into a seatbelt.

 Highly recommended if you have a bigger child!!
 I was very happy to find this car seat on Amazon. My son is approaching 40 lbs. and is not yet 3 years old. He was outgrowning the harness in his old seat. I did a lot of research, and found that this seat was what looking I was looking for--at a reasonable price (some of the other carseats for bigger children are pretty pricey). I found it on sale at Walmart, but needed to wait until we had the appropriate funds. When we finally did, I went and found that it had sold. I checked the other Walmarts in the area and they were sold out, too. I was so thankful that I could get it through Amazon for $150 (the same price as it was at Walmart) and get free shipping!!

The seat was easy to assemble and easy to install in the car. It isn't overly heavy or "awkward" as I thought a larger seat would. And because it converts to a booster seat, we can use it as long as we need to.

I love this carseat!
  I love this car seat, I read a ton of reviews before I bought it myself! I was a bit worried because alot of them spoke of the latch being too short so it would bother their childs crotch area.. but upon arrival, it doesnt! nor is it hard to set up! It took me 3 minutes to pop it together and adjust the straps!! I even had to mvoe them to the next notch up for my daughter which iw as worried I would be so confues because of so many reviews about it.. and I wasnt! It was SO SIMPLE!!! The crotch strap also adjusts farther out now! And the matrix fabric.. washed clean and doesnt fade or tear, it looks brand new after my daughter spilled a smoothie allll overr it! She loves the little cupholder and I love how you can adjust the headrest to fit perfect to YOUR child, I WOULD recomment this carseat.. not in the other colors however those tend to stain easy! The matrix is so easy to keep clean and it looks nice! I give this carseat five stars and Recommend it to everyone!!

BRITAX 360 Degree Protection
The BRITAX BOULEVARD 70 features technologies that work to minimize injury to your child during a crash from any direction, including both frontal and side impact crashes - the most frequent types of crashes. These technologies work together with other features on the car seat to minimize injury to your child during a crash by:

  • keeping your child in the vehicle,
  • diverting crash forces away from your child,
  • helping to slow down your child's body,
  • minimizing movement of your child, and
  • protecting your child's brain and spinal cord.
SafeCell Technology for Advanced Head Safety
Designed with SafeCell Technology, the BOULEVARD 70 features SafeCells, which are engineered structures located in the base of the seat designed to compress in the event of a crash. This compression significantly lowers the center of gravity and counteracts the forward rotation of the car seat, delivering unprecedented performance in a crash.
The BOULEVARD 70 also features integrated steel bars, which strengthen the connection to the vehicle and reduce the forward flexing of the car seat. In addition, the energy-absorbing Versa-Tether anchors the top of the car seat and minimizes forward rotation of the car seat to reduce the crash forces that can reach your child if an accident occurs. These three features work together as a system to provide revolutionary head safety protection for your child.
True Side Impact Protection for Advanced Security
Offering True Side Impact Protection, the BOULEVARD 70 delivers advanced protection if you happen to face an unexpected side-impact crash. True Side Impact Protection is a system composed of a rigid seat shell with deep side walls, an adjustable head restraint, and an extra layer of energy-absorbing EPP (Expanded Polypropylene) foam lining the head restraint. These combined features work together to protect your child's head and chest from incoming side-impact crash forces by distributing the forces over a larger surface area, helping shield your child from vehicle intrusion, contain your child's head and body in the seat, and minimize side-to-side movement of your child's head.
Premium Fit and Comfort Features
Whether children are watching the world go by or snuggling in for a nap, they'll enjoy that the BOULEVARD 70 reclines in both the forward and rear positions. And thanks to additional features, which include high-density comfort foam and a plush cover set with matching belly pad, they'll always ride in style and comfort. A 70-pound weight capacity, two buckle positions, and a tangle-free five-point harness with ten harness height settings provide a snug, custom fit for your growing child. Plus, an optional Infant Positioning Insert (sold separately) allows you to properly and securely fit smaller infants into the car seat.
Ease-of-Use for Safety and Convenience
Packed with perks for parents, the BOULEVARD 70 makes it easy to secure your child in the proper position without guesswork. Premium lower LATCH connectors make for a quick, simple, and tight installation, while the push-button allows you to easily uninstall the connectors. Easy-to-access built-in lock-offs allow you to install the car seat with ease using your vehicle's lap and shoulder belt. The quick-adjust harness system and buckle allow you to reposition the harness height without disassembling the harness straps.
Additionally, an anti-slip contoured base grips and protects the vehicle seat, ensuring a tight installation in all types of vehicles. Convenient holders keep harness straps out of the way when you're placing your child in the seat, and the plush cover set with matching pads removes easily for cleaning without requiring you to disassemble or uninstall the car seat.
The BRITAX BOULEVARD 70 Convertible Car Seat is backed by a one-year limited warranty.

Customer Reviews

  Just bought another one for daddy's car
I was looking for a convertible car seat to replace the infant carrier/carseat for my now 10-month-old son. I was worried that I wouldnt be able to comfortably fit a seat in my 2005 Honda Civic Sedan, and even more worried buying something online that would be more of a headache to return if it didnt fit. Hopefully my review will help someone else decide whether or not to get this seat. These were my concerns:

SAFETY: Having done alot of research as well as actually having seen both a Marathon 70 and a Boulevard 70, the specs are the same, except the Boulevard 70 has the added side cushioning pad around the head (they call it True Side Impact). I put my son in the seat, and having that extra padding means that his little head wont move sideways as much if we get hit in a side impact collision. Of course all carseats on the market must meet the minimum Federal safety standards for car seats, so this extra padding feature is what sold me on the Boulevard (the Advocate also has this plus an additional padding around the side exterior head area but is more $$).

VEHICLE FIT: I am currently using the seat REAR FACING, and it DOES fit in the back seat of my civic sedan. I first positioned directly behind driver seat, which was not good, as I had to push the seat so far I didnt feel comfortable driving (I am about 5'5"), but sliding the seat over toward the middle allowed me to move my seat back to its normal position (I like to have the seat reclined alittle). This works fine for me, as there is still enough room for my 8 year old son to sit. A larger person sitting back there may not be as comfortable though.

INSTALLATION: Compared to other seats Ive used/installed, this one seemed relatively easy to get a tight fit, with very minimal movement (I got it to less that 1/2" movement at the base on my first try). I installed the seat using the lower LATCH connectors, which clicked into the car's LATCH anchors very easy, and clicks like a seatbelt. It was easy to tighten the belt, but NOT so easy trying to loosen it. I did not try using the seatbelt method. At the bottom of the drivers seat (where the seat is bolted to the floor), I popped off the plastic piece to attach the tether. I did put a rolled towel at the crack of the seat to help level it, which is acceptable per the instructions I believe.

EASE OF USE: My back seat is small, so I have to hold my son in a lying position and twist my body a bit to get him in the seat. Uncomfortable for now, but it will be easier when he can hop into the seat by himself in a few months.The quick adjust feature means that I wont have to remove the seat and re-thread the harness straps when my son gets taller (which is a pain to do, and I dont have to worry about it getting all twisted or not securing it correctly). The rubber "HUGS" things attached to the harness is supposed to provide additional torso support in a frontal or rear crash, but I think it also helps keep the straps from getting all twisted. Britax touts having these little velcro pieces on the side of the carseat and on the harness that is supposed to help you by keeping the harness from falling back into the seat (which is a pain trying to pull out from under the baby), but it doesnt help much - the velcro seems too short or positioned in the wrong place or something.

COST: I got my first seat from Amazon for $229.00 with free shipping. The second seat for my husbands vehicle from Amazon for $244.95 also with free shipping. Locally the same seat costs over $300 plus tax. My local Sears is selling the Safety 1st Alpha Omega Elite for about $180, and Walmart is selling the Graco My Ride 65 for about $150. For me, the extra safety and convenience features Im getting with the Boulevard 70 are worth the extra cost.

ARRIVAL: The seat arrived via UPS fairly quickly (it took 4 days from Pennsylvania to Hawaii with free super saver shipping), with no damage to the box or the contents.

I hope that my review may help somebody out there in some way. We all have our own reasons we choose one thing over another, but for me, I am so pleased with this seat that I just purchased a second Boulevard 70 for my husbands vehicle. Sorry I didnt think to take any pictures. Ive seen people putting their pics on here, so if I can figure out how, I will add some.

Amoooazing!
While $300 is a lot to spend on a car seat, the Boulevard has a bunch of extra features, such as added EPS foam to protect baby's head in a side-impact crash. There's a removable infant pillow so that babies fit more securely in the seat. A belly pad and padded harness also add comfort. I feel like my little guy is completely protected.
Excellent car seat
I purchased this carseat for my son who just turned a year old and has outgrown his Graco Snugride. I found it a little difficult to tighten the straps and had to get my husband to help me, but other than that, this is an excellent carseat that lives up to its reputation. It is quite heavy, which I think is due to the new steel frame and construction. The padding is also very nice, my son fell asleep in it the first time I put him in it! There are these little velcro pieces on the side that are meant to keep the straps out of the way when you are getting your child in and out of the seat, but for some reason on mine (and on another Blvd floor model in BabiesRUs), it was hard to get the velcro pieces to align. However, that would be my only minor complaint about this seat.

Don't let the price deter you!
My 5 month old daughter LOVES her Sophie the Giraffe toy! This toy is absolutely wonderful in every way. Sophie is made of soft rubber and makes a pleasant-sounding squeak whenever any part of her body is squeezed, so even a young baby can elicit a reaction from the toy with minimal effort.

I don't know what it is about Sophie, but whenever my daughter plays with her, she gets very vocal and talkative.

I saw another review which referred to this toy as "a glorified dog toy". That reviewer is mistaken, and simply doesn't realize the value of this toy.

- Sophie's body, while soft, has several areas of thicker rubber (the nubs on her head, her ears, and her feet) which are perfect for teething babies to gnaw on for relief.
- Sophie's contrasting colors (spots) are visually stimulating to a baby.
- She is easy to grip given her long, thin neck.
- This toy is made of 100% natural rubber and uses food-grade paint (SAFE!).
- This is a quality baby toy which will last for many years.

I would much rather pay $20 for a safe, engaging toy for my baby, than pay $5 for some piece of junk with lead paint.

I can see why the kids like this...
We just got this for our infant, and I couldn't help but give it a bit of a test chew, myself. Now, I obviously don't have a huge deal of experience (or, memory, rather) with teething toys, but this is good stuff. Very satisfying to bite on. I'm thinking of getting a second one for myself to use in the office to deal with stress. Much better than my kid's silicone pacifier, which I've also tried.

My only complaint is that the giraffe appears to have fluorescent lip stick, which is a bit disconcerting to see in a giraffe, even a French one.

Sophie is GREAT
t is so refreshing to not have to worry about letting your child put something in his/her mouth!!! With all the worries of lead paint, this product is a a great reliever! It is made in the French Alps with natural rubber and non-toxic paint which made it's selling point with me. My child loves it and the size is perfect for little hands. I recommend this product!

Chomp Chomp,
This was an impulse buy, we have all been there, what got me was the reviews and the fact that my baby girl was teething and I just wanted something that she could really chomp on. Sophie is the winner. She has a cute face, she is french, and she squeaks, what more could you want. Oh and I read some reviews about the legs being choking hazards and think this is a bit ridiculous; first, use your own judgement as to whether your baby is old enough and strong enough to pull a toy out of their mouths if they gag; second, don't confuse gagging and choking. The gag reflex is a good thing and my baby girl gags on her own fingers and hands much more than Sophie. I like Sophie's spots and I like that she is made out of natural rubber that has a great familiar smell and is soft to touch. Great teether. Chomp, Chomp, Squeak, Squeak.

Graco Nautilus 3-in-1 Car Seat

Product Description

Once your child outgrows her rear-facing infant car seat, she's still required ride in a car seat or a booster for several more years to come. So rather than investing in a succession of seats and boosters, try the Graco Nautilus 3-in 1 Toddler Car Seat, the only forward-facing car seat your child will need. Its five-point harness accommodates children up to 65 pounds, and its convertible booster/backless booster can hold children up to 100 pounds in weight--longer than most other convertible car seats.

Versatile, Convertible Design Lasts through Early Childhood
The Nautilus features an extended five-point harness design that can accommodate children over the age of one, from 20 to 65 pounds in weight--a wider range than most other forward-facing car seats. As your child grows, the seat easily converts to a high-back booster and then, lastly, to a backless booster for a child up to 100 pounds in weight. A steel-reinforced frame and superior construction help to ensure safety and durability through years of use.

Built for Comfort and Superior Safety
You can rest assured that your child will have superior protection while riding in the Nautilus, thanks to extensive crash testing and a steel-reinforced structure. The car seat meets or exceeds US Safety Standards, including U.S. Compliance Standard FMVSS 213; the New Car Assessment Program (NCAP), with peak Crash Force approximately twice the Car Seat Standard; and tests for Extreme Car Interior Temperatures. EPS energy-absorbing foam provides additional security and comfort.

As well as being secure and safe, your child will feel extra-comfy, too, with an easily adjustable head support, cushioned seat, and wide armrests; a cup holder and side storage keeps snacks and treasures close at hand.
About Graco
In 1942, Russell Gray and Robert Cone formed Graco Metal Products, in Philadelphia, PA. For 11 years, the firm fabricated machine and car parts for local manufacturers. In 1953, Gray left the firm, leaving Cone as sole owner. Cone decided to manufacture his own line of products, but had trouble coming up with ideas. Enter David Saint, an engineer, tinkerer, and stained glass artisan who worked for Graco. Saint, himself a father of nine, was intrigued when an associate told him how his wife would soothe their tired and cranky baby while swinging in a backyard glider swing. Acting on this inspiration, he went to the drawing board and 18 months of hard work later, the world's first wind-up infant swing, the Graco Swyngomatic, was born. Graco sold millions of Swyngomatics in the coming years, becoming one of the world's leading manufacturers of juvenile products in the process. Today, Graco is a Newell Rubbermaid company, with 1500 associates worldwide. While a half-century has brought many changes to Graco, their dedication and commitment to designing and manufacturing top-quality products remains, and continues on.

better than radian or britax in my humble opinion

Overall, we are very happy with Graco.

LAST carseat you'll need!
THANK YOU GRACO! Parents, if you love your kids, keep them in a 5 point harness as long as possible--age 8 years if necessary!! My 3 yr. old was outgrowing a Cosco convertible, and I wanted my 6 yr. old back in a 5 point harness; however, I didn't like the $250+ booster seats available elsewhere lacking a decent headrest, no cupholders, too wide for our sedan, and some weren't FAA approved! I bought two Nautiluses in Galaxy color (mostly grey) and I love them! My 6 yr. old can buckle/unbuckle himself, and my 3 yr. old can buckle the top portion herself. They've enjoyed long drives when awake, and I no longer worried about my son literally falling out of the seatbelts when sleeping with the "regular" booster seat (I got tired of pulling over to reposition him, then thought, MY GOD, what difference would it make if we were in a car accident--he'd go flying through the window anyway??!!)

PROS:
1. MOST IMPORTANTLY--both of my kids have the safety of the 5 point harness for a few more years. I told my 6 yr.old he's like a race car driver or astronaut; my 3 yr. old feels like a big kid in the same seat;
2. It's not expensive for what you get;
3. It has an integrated cupholder so the kids get their own cups and not worry about it falling out (or the cupholder falling/breaking apart). Also, the child won't be tempted to undo or slip out of the car seat belt "for a second" to get something;
4. There's storage under BOTH armrests (on the inside) for little toys, tissues, snacks, etc. for the kids to get for themselves, and again, the child won't be tempted to undo or slip out of the car seat belt "for a second" to get something;
5. The headrest extends way up for the taller/older kids;
6. It becomes a backless booster, when the time is right in a few years;
7. Long expiration date--our seats don't expire until 2014;
8. Easy harness/belt adjustments. Some may find it tricky adjusting the harness through the slots because of the plastic casing and rollers in the back the belt goes through, but I believe it's this casing/rollers that keep the belts from twisting or getting stuck over time;
8. EASY LATCH or seatbelt use, tight with no movement--that's GREAT!

CONS (what I don't like about the Nautilus):
1. Heavy, but it's steel reinforced and I feel sits better in the car;
2. Still wide for our sedan, but can just barely squeeze a backless booster in between (with a lot of manipulation!) to have three seats in the back when necessary (I'm thinking of getting a travel vest for the 3rd child when carpooling);
3. Doesn't recline as much as other seats, but the headrest makes up for it by keeping the kids' heads upright when asleep.

Now if only Graco can make this carseat fold up, perhaps two inches narrower on the outside, this would be the BEST CARSEAT YET!!! (Parents, if you still have doubts regarding a 5 pt. harness carseat for your "big" kids, view the "Kyle" or "Emily" videos on YouTube, it'll break your heart. Better yet, view the various carseat crash tests on YouTube to get a better idea of what your child will go through in a car crash.)
